  • Classic encounter anticipated in Group Two
As far as classic encounters go, this afternoon's Group 1 Turf Bar Trotters Mile definitely rates right up there in terms of expectation. • Classie Brigade looking to make full use of draw in Free-For-All
It is almost a case of deja vu for Classie Brigade in today's New Zealand Pacing Free-For-All at Addington having drawn super and looking the likely leader as he was in the 2019 edition. This year however, John will be hoping that the eight year old can stave off the All Stars challengers and go one better in the Group One feature.

  • Sundees Son looking to etch name in harness racing's record books
The brilliant, but sometimes unpredictable individual that he is, Sundees Son will this afternoon chase glory in Addington's Group One Dominion Handicap over the 3200m. Already a multiple Group One winner, this is a race that has eluded as yet eluded both horse and stable. For owners Colin and Nancy Hair, it would mean the culmination of all their hopes after what must have seemed a frustrating journey at times over the years. "Cometh the hour, cometh the man," may be the appropriate epithet, as we cheer on our champion trotter at 4.36pm this afternoon.

  • Classie Brigade looking to overcome adversity in cup
He may be in the twilight of his career at eight years of age and the veteran of this year's cup, but no-one is letting on to Classie Brigade which steps out for his second tilt at the great race at Addington this afternoon. Added to this is the draw from the outside of the second line which has negated his amazing turn of foot from the stand start. However, this is a horse that has learnt to do it tough throughout his career and luck allowing will aim to give driver John Dunn his first win in the big two mile contest.

  • The opportunities for our cup class pair of Classie Brigade and Henry Hubert are fast diminishing, therefore it was imperative that they showed they were on track at Addington last evening. Neither disappointed, with Classie Brigade setting a new New Zealand record of 3.08.9 for the 2600m stand and Henry Hubert much better in running second, just a length adrift of his stablemate at the line.

  • Further opportunity for the cup horses to shine
With the 2020 New Zealand Trotting Cup now under four weeks away, cup aspirants are running short on opportunities to find their best form. For our two cup class horses Henry Hubert and Classie Brigade, tonight's 2600m handicap for the faster class horses gives them that further opportunity to show their best wares.

  • One of the better bred types on debut at Methven today was Bettor's Delight three year old gelding Bryan Boru. A full brother to the former top mare Piccadilly Princess, he did not disappoint, with a winning debut. What is a surprise though is that his debut today was as a trotter, rather than what he is bred to do, pace!

  • Dashing Major produces standout performance on winless night for team
On a particularly cold spring night, the winning run of late was stalled, with five placings as good as it got. It was the debutante amongst these - Dashing Major - that caught the eye with a stunning first up run for third, against two proven Group One performers in Krug and It's All About Faith.
