  • Stable junior driver Korbyn Newman has only been with us for just over a month, but made a big statement at Addington on Friday night reining home two winners for Diamond Racing, both at big odds. The way he was driving on Friday, you would have to rate his chances today with his one drive Prodigal Guinness.

  • The rain has disappeared and it looks set to be a super afternoon in the sun at Addington. We have three nice chances today starting with Yuri in Race One.

  • Some good chances throughout the night at Addington
We are into day two of the latter part of the 2019-2020 season and the action is again at Addington, but this time under lights. Diamond Racing are well represented through the 12 race card.

  • It's good to be back
While it had been two months since we last raced, for driver John Dunn, it was a case of getting back to doing what he does so well, driving winners. With three wins, all courtesy of outside drives and three placings from as many starters with stable runners, it was a superb first day back at the coalface for Diamond Racing's stable driver.

  • January was a busy month for the stable, with the holiday period seeing stable runners all over the country. Without a doubt though, the January highlight must go to Heisenberg after his New Zealand Record winning effort in the re-run of the Central Otago Cup at Wyndham.

  • The inter-dominions continued at Alexandra Park and we continued to be plagued by bad draws that would ultimately scuttle the inter-dom hopes for most of the team. However, come Grand Final night, the brave runs for 4th by Valloria in the trotters grand final and 2nd by Classie Brigade in the pacers consolation salvaged some pride for the team.

  • For everyone in harness racing, November is like grand final time in racing, with features such as the NZ Cup, Dominion Handicap and Sires Stakes final that all play out. We would be there for all of November's big days, but for Robert, it is 4 November that he will long remember, the day that courtesy of Heisenberg, he trained his 1500th New Zealand winner.

  • In terms of the season's racing, October would have to be our most disappointing. The derailing of Sundees Son's Dominion Handicap campaign and the uncertainty over a start in next month's cup for Henry Hubert definitely put a downer on things. It was the deeds of Dexter over in the USA that kept the spirits high, especially after his two Breeders Crowns at the end of the month.

  • With September signalling the start of spring, some of the big guns were going to be heading back to the track. For our stable, there was huge excitement around the reappearance of Sundees Son and with two starts in September, he did not disappoint, promising a huge season ahead.

  • The show must go on
While we live in the most unbelievable of times at present, we are constantly adjusting our lives to the new norm. A premier night of racing will go ahead this evening, albeit with huge restrictions in place in terms of attendance. We have a big team of runners that will go around and are represented in all of the night's feature races, but without John Dunn, who is forced to sit out because of a recent trip to Australia.

  • Three year olds continue push towards feature events
We have another big team in at Addington tonight, including smart three year olds Heroes Square, Carlos Bromac and Sugar Loaf. There are also two debutantes to go around in Dolce Vita and Alluring Tyron.

  • Stars Tonight and Heroes Square shine at Addington
Stars Tonight has probably been the stable's most consistent horse this campaign and was rewarded for his efforts with a strong win after leading. Heroes Square is one of the real rising stars of the stable, his third win tonight almost guaranteeing that he will be locking horns with the best three year olds in the country come derby night.

  • Great staff effort the key to massive weekend for the stable
In terms of wins alone, the weekend has been an incredible result for our stable with 11 victories over four meetings. However, the real success of our weekend has been the massive contribution by all of our staff to achieve the results that we have.

  • Group Three victory to Woodstone the highlight of a five win day for the stable
It had been a long time between drinks - 16 months to be correct - but Robert never lost the faith in open class trotter Woodstone being able to get back to his best form. Last night at Alexandra Park, Woodstone delivered in style, showing toughness over the 2700m trip to outstay favourite and stablemate Pretty Majestic in what was a big run after sitting parked.

  • Passion And Power looks to continue winning run in Group Two
Passion And Power has been the outstanding commodity to date in the two year old filly ranks and will look to stretch her unbeaten run to four wins tonight at Alexandra Park. Her target this evening is the Group Two Delightful Lady Classic for $80,000.

  • What a night for the Bagries and Dunns at Menangle
Buoyed no doubt by the success of Kiwi gallopers Probabeel and Te Akau Shark earlier in the afternoon at Randwick, the Bagrie and Dunn families must have driven to Menangle last night with a degree of hope for their respective runners. But to see the dream result where now both of Bettors Heart and Alta Orlando are through to next week's Miracle Mile, would probably have been pushing the levels of optimism.

  • Soundslikeart completes perfect weekend for Yabby Dam Racing
Four year old Art Major mare Soundslikeart has done a great job since coming to New Zealand and was at her best today, registering her first Addington victory. Appearing in a lot of trouble following a fading runner at the 500m, she stormed home up the pylons once the gap appeared, bettering favourite Woman In Gold right on the line.

  • New Zealand Record to Pretty Majestic sets up a great night for Diamond Racing
It was expected to be a big night for the time last night with lots of great chances in both islands. The stable runners did not disappoint producing the four wins and a further two placings. It is hard to single out one winning performance, but the effort of Pretty Majestic in slashing a New Zealand Record that had stood for 23 years is particularly noteworthy.

  • Another busy Friday night for the team
It will be another busy Friday night for the team with 15 runners to go around over both islands. John is up in Auckland tonight driving Need You Now, so Tim Williams, Bob Butt and Gavin Smith will deputise at Addington in his absence.

  • Good night for the team at Alex Park
It was a cracking night for the team at Alexandra Park last night with the three winners for just six starters. Resonate gained an overdue win in the intermediate ranks, while Pretty Majestic continued a great run since crossing the Tasman. Passion And Power was much too good for the two year olds in the last despite having to overcome an outside barrier.

  • Addington review
It was just one of those nights where we got close, but no cigar! The highlight of the night was no doubt Pres Da Belle in running second in the Group Three Summer Trotting Free-For-All after putting in a huge run.
