  • John looking to carry on a good run of form
By his own high standards, the start to this season, had been a quiet one for number one stable driver John Dunn. However, a great run of form over cup week, has been followed by more success over the last couple of days, both from catch drives. John looks to have a great chance of success in one of the day's features at Methven, the Green Mile for the trotters, in which he will again partner Harriet Of Mot.

  • Summer Wealth a big first up winner for stable
The now five year old Mach Three gelding Summer Wealth was confidently backed on the tote today and never looked like letting down his supporters. After stepping really well, he was up disputing the pace from the 1700 and in front by the mile peg. He always looked to be travelling a treat for Johnny out in front and looked to have plenty left in the tank at the end of 2400m run in a moderate 3.04.7.

  • Woodstone puts it all together on big Ashburton track
Colin Hair's cup week has turned out to be a ripper. On Tuesday at Addington, it was the brilliant, but enigmatic Sundees Son that was too good, even after an early gallop. Today at Ashburton, it was four year old Woodstone, a horse that has his own share of tricks, that was too good for a field of up to R70 trotters.

It was never going to be an easy day and so it proved for the first ten races on the programme. But a winning double in the last two races gave much than a pass mark for the day.

  • Its a big welcome back to American Tart
Away from the track for nearly seven months, top race-mare American Tart showed that she has lost none of her speed in a convincing win over favourite Bonnie Joan. It was a top drive from John to position her in the one-one throughout and then her high speed was too much over the last 100m, even for the classy mare Bonnie Joan.

Already handicapped as the backmarker in the race, Robbie Burns had another 30m added to his handicap early on as a number of runners played dodgems with each other. His effort to get as close as he did to the winner Franco Tai can only be described as massive, beaten by a half length.
