  • You just knew that the weather was going to come right in time for the Motukarara Xmas meeting. A day of up to 30 degrees produced a huge crowd as per normal and they were treated to some fantastic grass track racing. Wins to Anamajor and Kotare Cullen continued a good run of late for the stable.

  • Three year old filly Anamajor is one of the most promising types in the stable at present and footed it with some of the best fillies in the land last season as a two year old. Her second at Addington last Friday behind one of those fillies Kendra, indicated that she is ready to notch up the first win of her career.

  • Kotare Cullen produces big run to win cup
    At just her second stand start and second start in the South Island, Kotare Cullen showed the ability that marked her one of the better fillies in the country last season in winning today's Motukarara Cup. She had to be brave to do so, holding out the stablemate Zadaka, that finished resolutely from the back to be denied victory by a head.

  • John off to commanding lead in top holiday drivers
    Following up from a hat-trick at Ashburton on Sunday, John was again in dominant form at Westport on Day One. He gained a convincing win with the sole stable runner Johnny White as well as a double for Paul Kerr with his pair of Arocknatthepark and Pay Me Swiss.

  • Alta Maestro and Letspendanitetogetha good chances in even Ashburton Cup
    It may not be a large field size wise, but this year's Ashburton Cup field looks one of the more even line-ups seen for a few years. Stable runners Alta Maestro and Letspendanitetogetha look two of the better chances in the race after strong performances at their last start.

    Despite having a quieter run by his own high standards of late, there was no stopping John at Ashburton this afternoon with a personal hat-trick, that also doubled as a stable hat-trick.

  • Matt nails a weekend double
    After saluting the judge at Addington on Friday night with Huey Lewis, Matt Anderson was again enjoying success at Rangiora this afternoon with stable runner Onedin Reign.

  • Huey Lewis back in the news
    A late finisher for third last week, Huey Lewis was able to back up that performance at Addington this evening with a strong staying performance which saw him outlast the trailing runner Koromiko Eyre.

  • A big week for John and Jacob
    This week is a huge one for the father and son pairing of John and Jacob Dunn. Last Sunday at Motukarara, John achieved his personal milestone with win 1000 of his career. Tomorrow night at Melton, Jacob will represent New Zealand in Mini Trot Inter-Dominion on Inter-Dominion Grand Final night.

  • Auckland news - Woodstone out. Improved run expected from Westview pair
    Woodstone would have to be the most improved open class trotter going around and after a successful Auckland campaign through the winter, big hopes were held for him for big features upcoming including tomorrow evening's Lyell Creek Stakes. However, he has gone amiss with a trip to Matamata to determine the nature of his injury.

  • Addington Preview
    There are just the four stable runners to go around at Addington tomorrow evening, but all appear well placed. Alta Maestro and Letspendanitetogetha will both go around in the night's free-for-all feature, a race that also features the return of Ultimate Machete.

  • Two of the stable's better performed horses over previous seasons - Billy Badger and Captain Dolmio - will continue their careers in the USA. Captain Dolmio has been sold and joins a stable out of Ohio, while Billy Badger will go to New Jersey and link up with Dexter and Chris Ryder.

    The return to winning form of Alta Maestro was clearly the highlight for the stable on Show Day, but there were many supporting runs that had a lot of merit, including the run of Feel The Money (in photo) for second in the Mares Feature.

  • Alta Orlando leads five-pronged stable attack on cup
    Robert Dunn has been one of this country's foremost trainers for many years now and tasted success in the 2006 version of the great race with Mainland Banner. Up until now, the most runners that he has ever had contest the cup in any given year is two - Master Musician and Defoe in 1991, but next Tuesday, there will be five starters representing Diamond Racing Stables.

    Unlike our cup horses that have drawn so poorly, for top three year olds Stars Tonight and Heisenberg, the barrier draw could not have worked out any better, coming up with the two inside barriers.

  • A big team to hit the track at Addington tonight
    We are just 11 days out from this year's New Zealand Cup and for Alta Orlando and Captain Dolmio, this will be their last major test before the big day. Earlier in the night Heisenberg and Stars Tonight will likewise have their final racenight hit-out before the Sires Stakes.

  • Coming of age for four year olds
    On Flying Stakes Day at Ashburton yesterday, there was a sense that two of the stables most promising horses, Henry Hubert and Sundees Son are set to take some big steps in their career. Their performances in two of the day's intermediate events marked them as horses well and truly on the rise.
